Digital Marketing & Google Ad Grants Intern

Applications close September 11th, 2026

A paid, hands-on digital marketing internship with a nonprofit performing arts organization.

Compensation: $20/hour
Duration: 36 weeks
Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Primarily remote with a flexible schedule

About the Internship

Grande Prairie Choral Arts (GPCA) is seeking a motivated college student to serve as our Digital Marketing & Google Ad Grants Intern.

This internship offers the opportunity to gain real-world experience creating, managing, analyzing, and optimizing Google Search advertising for a nonprofit arts organization.

This is a focused, project-based internship. Rather than serving as a general marketing assistant, the intern will have meaningful ownership of GPCA's Google Ad Grant campaigns, with guidance and supervision from GPCA's Marketing Director.

What You'll Be Working On

The internship will focus on two primary campaign goals:

Singer Recruitment

Create and optimize Google Search campaigns that help prospective singers discover opportunities with:

  • Grande Prairie Singers, our adult community choir

  • Grande Prairie Children's Choir

  • Auditions, registration, and other singer recruitment opportunities

Campaigns may reach prospective singers, parents, families, homeschool families, and other audiences appropriate to each ensemble.

Audience Development

Create and optimize campaigns designed to:

  • Increase awareness of GPCA concerts and performances

  • Drive potential audience members to concert information and ticket pages

  • Introduce new audiences to Grande Prairie Choral Arts

  • Grow attendance at performances throughout the season

What You'll Do

As our Digital Marketing & Google Ad Grants Intern, you will:

  • Research search behavior and keywords related to choir recruitment, children's choir participation, and local concert attendance

  • Build and organize Google Ads campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and search ads

  • Write and test clear, compelling ad copy for different audiences and campaign goals

  • Develop appropriate geographic targeting strategies

  • Monitor campaign performance and make improvements based on data

  • Review search terms, add negative keywords, and refine campaign targeting

  • Help maintain compliance with Google Ad Grants policies and account requirements

  • Assist with conversion tracking and identify meaningful campaign outcomes

  • Review campaign landing pages and recommend improvements that may increase response or conversion

  • Provide brief, understandable performance updates and recommendations

  • Document campaign structure, successful approaches, settings, and processes so GPCA can continue the work after the internship concludes

Who We're Looking For

You do not need to arrive as a Google Ads expert.

We're looking for a student who is curious, dependable, comfortable learning new technology, and interested in understanding why one campaign, search, ad, or landing page performs better than another.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Comfort working with numbers, data, and performance metrics

  • The ability to work independently and manage a small, flexible weekly workload

  • A willingness to learn Google Ads, Google Ad Grants, analytics, and conversion tracking tools

  • An interest in digital marketing, advertising, audience development, nonprofit work, or the performing arts

Fields of Study

Students in a variety of academic programs may be a good fit for this internship, including:

  • Marketing or Digital Marketing

  • Advertising

  • Communications

  • Public Relations

  • Business

  • Data Analytics or Business Analytics

  • Information Systems

  • Computer Science

  • Arts Administration

  • Music Business

  • Related fields

Students from other majors with a demonstrated interest in digital marketing and analytics are encouraged to apply.

Previous coursework or experience with Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, SEO, web analytics, digital advertising, or nonprofit marketing is helpful, but not required.

What You'll Gain

This internship is designed to provide substantive professional experience that can be used beyond the classroom.

You'll gain:

  • Hands-on experience managing real nonprofit Google Search campaigns

  • Portfolio-ready work with measurable campaign results and analytics

  • Experience with keyword research and search behavior

  • Practice writing conversion-focused advertising copy

  • Experience analyzing and optimizing campaign performance

  • Exposure to nonprofit arts marketing, singer recruitment, and audience development

  • Practice translating marketing data into practical recommendations

  • A completed body of work you can discuss in future interviews, internships, or entry-level marketing positions

Schedule & Supervision

The internship runs for 36 weeks and averages approximately 4 hours per week.

Work can be completed primarily remotely and on a flexible schedule, making the internship manageable alongside a student's academic schedule.

The intern will work primarily with GPCA's Marketing Director. Campaign priorities may shift throughout the season based on choir recruitment periods and upcoming concerts.

A Project You Can Leave Behind

By the end of the internship, the intern will help leave GPCA with a sustainable Google Ads system—including organized campaigns, documented processes, performance insights, and a practical playbook for future campaign management.

The goal is not only for the intern to gain meaningful professional experience, but also to create a digital advertising program that can continue benefiting Grande Prairie Choral Arts after the internship concludes.
